Most Dallas groomers will not put a price on their website. You call, you leave a message, somebody calls back and asks what kind of dog you have before anybody says a number. It is exhausting, and it is why people lose an entire evening to this question.
So here are ours, written down.
What does a bath cost, and what is in it?
A bath package starts at $75 for a small smooth coated dog and goes up to about $180 for an extra large double coated one.
Every bath, at every price, includes the same things. A wash, a full blow out, a nail trim, ear cleaning and a finishing spritz. There is no stripped down tier where the nails cost extra. The number moves on the size of the dog and the coat she is wearing, not on what is in the package.
What does a full groom cost, and what about cats?
A full groom is the bath plus the haircut. It starts at $130 and runs up to about $210.
The haircut is either breed standard or whatever you ask for. If you want the schnauzer left long on the legs, or the doodle at a length you can actually keep up with between visits, say so at the start. That two minute conversation is the difference between a haircut you like and one you put up with.
Cats, yes. About $150 for a bath and about $200 for a full groom. Same van, same one animal at a time, and the same rule about telling us up front how she is about being handled.
Why is one dog $130 and another one $210?
Two things, and neither is arbitrary.
Weight. Small is up to 29 lbs. Medium is up to 44. Large is up to 64. Extra large is anything above 64. More dog is more of everything. Water, shampoo, drying, table time.
Coat. Smooth, standard, curly or double. This one surprises people, because it can matter more than weight does. Drying is the long part of a groom, not cutting, and a double coat holds water like a sponge. A big smooth coated dog can genuinely take less time than a much smaller curly one.
A matted coat costs more too, and not as a penalty. It simply takes longer, and your groomer will walk you through it in the driveway before anything starts.
What is the trip fee, and is it hidden?
It is $5 to $50 depending on your zone, and it is not hidden anywhere. Across the home cluster around Farmers Branch and North Dallas it runs $5 to $15. Farther out it climbs, because farther out is farther to drive.
You see your exact trip fee in the booking confirmation, before anything is scheduled. If it is more than you expected, nothing has happened yet and nobody is annoyed if you say no thanks.
How does that compare to a salon?
Mobile runs roughly $20 to $40 more per visit. That is the real gap and we would rather say it plainly than let you find it at the end.
What the gap buys is time and calm. A salon trip is commonly four hours door to door and dogs can wait six hours between the bath and the pickup call. A visit from us runs about an hour in your driveway, many done inside 90 minutes, one dog in the van, no cages. Rebook on the day of the groom and your next visit is $7 off. Go on a recurring schedule of every 2, 4 or 8 weeks and every visit is $15 off, permanently, for as long as you stay on it.
No coupons. No membership. No first time offer. We would rather the everyday price be the right one than run sales on top of it.
The quiet saving is frequency. Standard and curly coats every 4 to 6 weeks. Smooth coats a bath every 8 to 12 weeks. Double coats a de-shed in spring and again in autumn, with baths in between. Dogs kept on that rhythm get straightforward grooms at the bottom of their band. Dogs who turn up twice a year do not.
To budget it, take your dog's weight band, take her coat, and start from the low end of that range plus your trip fee. That is close enough to plan around. We have been doing this in Dallas since 2017, and the number you are quoted is the number, unless the coat turns out to be a bigger job than it looked, in which case somebody tells you before they start rather than after.
