You have called four places. Two said no cats at all. One said they used to. The fourth said yes and then quietly went out of business, and now your long haired girl has a mat behind each shoulder that you cannot get a comb through.
You aren't imagining it. Cats are the one thing almost nobody around here will take.
Why won't anyone groom my cat?
Because cats are harder, and most shops have decided it isn't worth it.
A dog who's had enough leans away from you. A cat who's had enough goes in four directions in half a second, and the person holding her needs to have seen it before. A salon full of barking dogs also happens to be the single worst room in the city to bring a cat into. So most groomers just quietly stop offering it, and the ones who never offered it never start.
That leaves people driving across town, or trying it in the bathtub at home and ending up with a scratched forearm and a cat who now hides when the water runs.
We do cats. Not as a favour, as a service we actually price and schedule. And the van solves the specific thing that makes cat grooming go wrong, which is everything else in the room.
What does a cat groom actually include?
The same shape as a dog groom, done quieter.
A bath is the wash, the blow out, a nail trim, an ear clean and a finishing spritz. A full groom adds the haircut. One cat in the van at a time, no cages, with one groomer, in your driveway, with your house right there.
Most owners are surprised by how much the bath alone does. A proper wash and a full blow out on a long haired cat pulls out an astonishing volume of loose undercoat, and loose undercoat is what turns into mats a month later. If she's a shedder who's been leaving grey drifts on the sofa, that's usually the fix.
The nails are worth booking on their own merit too. Indoor cats don't wear them down, and an overgrown claw can curl back into the pad, which hurts and gets infected and is completely avoidable.
Does she need a lion cut?
Sometimes. Not as often as the internet suggests.
A lion cut is the right call when a cat is genuinely matted, when she's a long haired cat who has stopped keeping up with her own coat, or when she's carrying so much undercoat that a Dallas summer is making her miserable. In those cases it's a relief, and you can see it in her within a day.
It's the wrong call when someone's just tired of the vacuuming. A shaved cat gets sunburned in a window, gets cold at night, and short haired cats mostly don't need it at all. Your groomer will tell you which of those two situations you're in. Often the answer is a bath, a thorough blow out, and a comb out, with no clippers involved.
If she's already pelted, meaning the mats have joined into a solid sheet you can't lift away from the skin, brushing that out is not the kind option. Clipping under it is. Skin under a pelt is often thin and pink and unhappy, and you want somebody working slowly there.
What happens if my cat won't have it?
Then we do less, and we tell you so.
That's the part worth understanding before you book. A cat groom that goes well is a cat groom that stops before she's done with it. So a first visit might be a bath, a blow out and the front nails, with the belly and the back feet left for next time. That isn't a failed appointment. That's how you get a second one that goes better.

There's a line, though. We don't sedate, and we can't. If your cat needs sedation to be groomed safely, that's a vet's job, and a vet clinic that grooms is the right place for her. We'd rather point you there than have a bad morning at your house.

On top of that there's a trip fee by zone, $5 to $50, and $5 to $15 across the home cluster around Farmers Branch and North Dallas. The exact fee shows up in your booking confirmation before anything is scheduled, so you're never guessing.
Mobile generally runs roughly $20 to $40 more per visit than a salon would. With cats that comparison is a bit theoretical, since the salon option mostly doesn't exist. If she's on a regular rhythm, a recurring schedule of every 2, 4 or 8 weeks takes $15 off every visit, permanently, and rebooking on the day takes $7 off the next one.

How do I get her ready?
Barely anything, and please don't stress about it.
Don't chase her around the house for twenty minutes beforehand, because that's the part that sets a cat off. Shut her in one room with the door closed a little while before the van is due, so nobody has to go hunting under a bed. Tell us where she's sore, where she hates being touched, and what she did the last time somebody tried this.
And if she has three mats and a matted back end and you feel bad about it: long haired cats do this, especially past about eight years old when twisting to reach their own spine gets uncomfortable. It's a normal thing that happens to good owners, and it comes out.
